New Milford Public Schools will be placed in distance learning April 19-23, with all students from all schools returning in person on April 26.

“District data shows that having a distance learning week after the school vacation has been very effective as a mitigation strategy for New Milford public schools,” said Superintendent of Schools Alisha DiCorpo.

“Many families are expected to travel and socialize during the April holidays. Socialization outside of school helps exposure, and community herd levels will not be at a protective level, ”said DiCorpo.

“COVID-19 safety guidelines regarding exposure, as well as travel restrictions, are changing weekly, it seems,” DiCorpo said.

Before traveling, parents and their children should make sure they are aware of current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and ct.gov regarding quarantine of the new virus in the midst of its pandemic, and returning to work or school.

Parents and children are also urged to stay safe. If they or their child has been exposed or is not feeling well, they should stay home and see their doctor.
