Milford Schools Covid-19 Policy Updates

MILFORD, CT – Milford School Officials released new guidelines for Covid-19 policies as the school year approaches.

“The objective of Test-Mask-Go gives us the ability to maximize the time our students and staff stay in school and minimize the time individuals need to stay out of school,” Superintendent Anna Cutaia said in a letter to the school community. “Just as we did before the pandemic, students and staff who were sick were always asked to stay home until they felt well enough to return. »

Members of the school community who have mild symptoms of Covid-19 can go to school with several caveats. They must test at home for Covid-19 each day they have symptoms and wear a properly fitted mask at school. They must also take a final test in the morning when their symptoms disappear completely. Those who test positive should start following Covid-19 isolation protocols.

Members of the school community who have a fever should not go to school, whether or not they have Covid-19. They should stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without taking medication and feel well enough to go to school.

Positive test results should be reported to the school nurse and the individual should self-isolate at home for at least five days. They can go to school on the sixth day, but must wear a properly fitted mask until the tenth day.

People who do not have symptoms of Covid-19, but who live with someone who has tested positive in the last two weeks can come in person, but must wear a mask for 10 days from the last exposure .
