Milford House Legislative Delegation Hold PURA Workshop for Residents

MILFORD, CT – State officials Charles Ferraro (R-117), Pam Staneski (R-119) and Kim Rose (D-118) hosted a community workshop with PURA at the Milford Senior Center to discuss ways to reduce electricity bills Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

The workshop, “Learn How to Reduce Your Electricity Bill,” included presentations by electricity tariff specialists from the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA). The presentations were aimed primarily at seniors who are most vulnerable to fluctuations in monthly spending.

“I think this workshop was a great way for the residents of Milford to learn some great tips and tricks to lower their monthly energy bill,” said representative Ferraro. “Many of our senior residents live on a fixed income, so every penny they save goes a long way for them. “

“With the cost of everything rising these days, it’s important to be able to provide our neighbors with information that can help them manage their electricity costs and save money,” said Representative Staneski. “PURA has done a great job presenting options and helping our residents review cost reduction measures.”

The workshop comes at a time when United Illuminating (UI) has requested rate increases over the next three years totaling $ 128 million, which could pose a problem for customers who are currently struggling to reach the two. ends.
