A member of the school board of the exempt village of Milford received the most esteemed award from the Ohio School Boards Association.

David E. Yockey, who also serves on the Great Oaks Career Campus Board of Directors, was recognized as a member of the All-Ohio 2020 School Board on November 8 at the OSBA Capital Conference and Show. OSBA Executive Director Rick Lewis introduced school board members from across Ohio at the opening general session of the 65th Annual Conference, held virtually this year, from November 7 to 10.

Each year, the OSBA appoints an education board member from each of its five regions – Central, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest – to the Ohio School Board.

The award recognizes outstanding service to public education and represents the dedication shown by thousands of board members across the state. Yockey, who represents the Southwestern region of the OSBA, is in his 19th year on the Boards of Trustees of the Milford and Great Oaks Career Campuses.

He is very proud to “see our school system improve every year, provide more and more opportunities for our students, and find funding to improve our facilities for student learning.” During my tenure on the (Milford) council, we built six new primary schools, renovated the secondary school, constructed a new education council building, and improved our campus and sports facilities.

The retired educator also sits on the OSBA board of directors and is a member of the association’s southwest region executive committee.
