The August 4 Facebook post that the Milford House restaurant has closed was met with surprise and sadness by many.
The restaurant was an institution in Milford, located on the northeast corner of Main Street and Commerce, for 28 years.
Here is the post in its entirety:
“MILFORD HOUSE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED
To our valued customers – It’s no secret that the last 18 months have been extremely difficult for the entire restaurant industry. The dedicated staff at Milford House have worked tirelessly to weather the storm and continue to provide a quality dining experience for all of our customers. More recently, our inability to find suitable staff has forced Milford House and Perriez Carryout to permanently close our doors with immediate effect. On behalf of our staff, we appreciate all of the community support you have given to our restaurant over the past 28 years. We will all miss you and the gathering place you helped make amazing! Perry and Kris Sinacola”
Perry Sinacola declined to comment further on the shutdown.
Joell Beether, Executive Director of the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce, expressed her feelings about the loss of the historic restaurant to the downtown Milford landscape: “It was a very sad day to hear of the closure of Milford House, such a huge loss to our community. Milford House was a great family business that not only provided us with years of amazing food, but also continued support for groups, organizations and the community as a whole. I’m so honored to not only have worked with Perry and Kris over the years, but also proud to be able to call them friends. So many good memories! Thank you, Perry & Kris for all you have done. We will miss you very much!”
The closure came as a surprise to the public, as evidenced by numerous Facebook posts, which also said Milford House will be missed.
Here is a selection of those comments, which include individuals as well as other members of the Milford business community:
A comment from the Red Dog Saloon said: “So sorry to hear! It’s been a pleasure working with you all these years and Milford is definitely lost without you here. What great memories, great food and great times. Thank you for all of your hard work and fun times over the years. We will surely miss you all!”
Wendi Skolnik of Nana’s Niche and Corner also commented on the post, “So sorry to hear that. Milford House has been a great place for Milford! I will miss Jody answering the phone for our lunch orders, ‘Hey, neighbor.’ »

This corner will never be the same again, you will surely be missed by many, your dedication to holding on over the past few months has been done with such determination. Thank you for being there for me during my difficult times. I just can’t imagine what you are going through.
Shelley Robinson said: “Perry and Kris. We are so sad to see you closing our favorite restaurant and caterer for over 30 years. I can’t imagine who we’re going to use now. Your food was amazing. You organized all the high school sporting events we attended. Every graduation party, shower, family event, birthday party, etc., for as long as I can remember.
Rick Kirchner agreed: “Milford won’t be the same without the corner house that the whole Sinacola family has built!!! Great people, running an amazing business, serving delicious food while giving back to the community and their employees. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and I wish you the best of luck on your next adventure.”
